
Female intimate surgery under debate

On the occasion of the December 2015 special issue of the magazine SModa (the Saturday supplement of the newspaper El País) made a double-page report about vaginal surgery, also called female intimate surgery or female genital surgery.

The interview in El País with Dr. Patricia Gutiérrez is part of an article that has been recently published both in the digital edition of El País (where it has been placed as one of the most read articles of this newspaper), and in its December special of the printed edition.

On this occasion, journalist Rita Abundancia addresses the situation of vaginal surgery in Spain from several different angles, interviewing Dr. Patricia Gutiérrez Ontalvilla and Dr. César Casado, secretary of the Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (SECPRE), as well as other specialists from different fields, such as gynecologist Francisca Molero, sexologist Delfina Mieville and artist Jamie McCartney.
As Dr. Patricia Gutiérrez Ontalvilla explains in the SModa article, “we treat vaginismus with botox” at Hospital 9 de Octubre. We also recommend exercises to the patient after the intervention.
