Facial surgery, #1
Spain continues to be the country in the European Union with the highest number of aesthetic procedures performed per year, with facial surgery being the most in demand (41.6%). This is mainly due to the fact that it is made up of different interventions such as, for example, blepharoplasty (eyelids), otoplasty (ears) or rhinoplasty (nose).
However, according to the Martín Anaya Clinic, if the data is analyzed individually, liposuction, which allows a remodeling of the silhouette through the extraction of fat or adipose tissue, is the most demanded by both sexes.
In addition, this intervention is followed by breast augmentation, eyelid surgery, nose surgery and abdominoplasty. In this regard, the center has reported that almost nine out of ten people undergoing cosmetic surgery in Spain are still women. In other words: women account for more than 90%. They mostly opt for liposuction and breast augmentation, while men opt for facial surgery (eyelids, nose and ears).
Likewise, the distribution of the interventions according to age shows that 43% of these were performed on patients between 30 and 44 years of age, 35% on those over 45 and the remaining 22% on those under 30.
The study shows that the highest average hospital cost is for body surgery, followed by breast surgery, liposuction and facial surgery, which in the vast majority of cases do not require hospitalization.

What about vaginal surgery?
For my part, I miss data on vaginal surgery in this study. I suppose it must be because it is a type of surgery that not all clinics perform. However, it is one of the most demanded surgeries in my practice. Currently, labiaplasty (labia minora reduction or nymphoplasty), labia majora filler and vaginismus are at the top of this particular list.
