This week my recent contribution to the article on hypospadias for the newspaper Crónica Global has been published.
In this article I talk about ailments and malformations related to the intimate parts. These problems, both in men and women are often suffered in silence. Vaginismus, labiaplasty or vaginoplasty concern women, either for aesthetics or for health, but there are also anomalies present in males such as hypospadias, which are rarely talked about.
It is a genetic deviation that affects between 2 boys and 8 boys out of every 1,000 newborns. It is characterized because the opening of the urethra is not located at the tip of the penis, but can be in the body of the member or in the area of union of the virile organ and the scrotum.
In Spain we usually operate them before 2 years of age. This surgery is performed by plastic surgeons and urologists (depending on each case).
