Aesthetic Surgery in Spain is a surgical specialty. The official title is called: Medical Specialist in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Spain has one of the highest levels in Plastic and Aesthetic surgery with international recognition. It must be taken into account that obtaining the specialty is the fruit of a long and demanding period of selection via MIR (Médico Interno Residente) examination, and of theoretical and practical training, for a minimum of 5 years after obtaining the degree in medicine. This training guarantee is always a benefit for patient safety.

It is important that patients are not confused with other suggestive but ambiguous names, and it is important to always confirm the qualifications of the doctors who take care of their surgery because the ideal is to be attended by specialists with an official title in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery granted by the Spanish Ministry of Education.
