What is PRP? PRP is Platelet Rich Plasma.

Platelet Rich Plasma is one of the most requested treatments in consultation.

In this article I will reveal some facts you may not have known about this treatment.

1. What is Platelet Rich Plasma?

PRP is a preparation derived from the patient’s own blood. It is therefore non-toxic and non-allergenic.
Its beneficial effects are due to the release of growth factors by platelets.
These factors induce skin and tissue regeneration.

2. How do we obtain PRP?

We proceed to the extraction of a small amount of your own blood. By double centrifugation we obtain the platelet-rich plasma portion. With calcium derivatives we proceed to the release of the growth factors derived from your platelets.
Through small punctures in the skin with the mesotherapy technique. To reduce possible discomfort we will apply anesthetic ointment in the areas to be treated so that you are comfortable.

3. Where do we apply it?

PRP can be applied in different areas such as face, neck, décolleté, hands, scars, etc.

4. Can I return to work or will I have to take a leave of absence?

Don’t worry, it is a technique that allows you to immediately return to your normal life. You may have some bruising that you can hide with light makeup.

5. What are the effects of PRP?

  • Skin regeneration.
  • More luminous, smooth and vital skin.
  • Increased elasticity, skin thickness and blood circulation.

6. Other applications of Platelet Rich Plasma

PRP is used in a wide variety of treatments such as:

  • Treatment of fibrous scars.
  • Complementary in face and neck lifting.
  • Acne scars.
  • Chronic ulcers.
  • Dental implants.
  • Traumatology.

7. PRP is a medicine

Autologous platelet-rich plasma is considered a medicinal product for human use by the AEMPS (Spanish Association of Medicines and Health Products).
