BBC News. A survivor of a serious motorcycle accident has undergone pioneering surgery to reconstruct his face using a series of 3D printed parts.
Stephen Power, from Cardiff, is one of the world’s first patients to have 3D printed parts applied at all stages of the reconstructive process.
Doctors at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, had to break his cheekbones apart again before starting the facial reconstruction.
Stephen Power’s surgeon, Dr. Adrian Sugar, and prosthetic design engineer Sean Peel, spoke to the BBC about how Stephen’s face was reconstructed.
