Hand rejuvenation

Most of my patients become interested in hand rejuvenation treatments in their forties, when the first signs of skin aging on the hands become evident. As in other parts of the body, as the years go by, the skin on the hands loses elasticity, the dermis begins to thin and the first wrinkles, the appearance of spots, signs of dehydration, and relief of veins and bones become evident. The nourished and smooth skin of yesteryear becomes dry and aged, requiring revitalization.

The treatment of these signs allows the rejuvenation of hands, and can be done mainly in three different ways, depending on how advanced or not the signs are.

  1. If the main sign is the lack of smoothness and dehydration of the skin, the treatment that I consider most suitable for hand rejuvenation is the infiltration of hyaluronic acid and vitamin complexes.
  2. If, on the other hand, I notice a bony hand and very prominent veins, then I resort to the filling of fat from the same patient or lipofilling (also called Lipotransfer) which contains an infinity of growth factors and stem cells. Thus, we manage to improve the trophism of the skin. The effect of this treatment is immediate but it is not until 4 weeks after the treatment that the effect is evident. The duration of this treatment is lifelong in most cases.
  3. If the back of the hands have spots, it is necessary to apply medium peelings of trichloroacetic acid (TCA), through which and thanks to the renewal of the stratum corneum of the skin that they produce, they will improve them and in some cases contribute to their complete disappearance, especially when the pigmentation is very superficial.
