Rhinoplasty or nose surgery

Rhinoplasty or nose surgery is one of the most frequent surgical procedures in plastic surgery. Rhinoplasty is the surgery that manages to reduce or increase the nasal size, change the shape of the tip, reduce or increase the dorsum, modify the nasolabial angle.

The ideal candidate to undergo a nose job is one who seeks improvement and harmony with the rest of the facial features and not one who seeks absolute perfection or a nose like that of a public figure.

Rhinoplasty or nose surgery is performed under general anesthesia and can be performed by closed (inside the nose) or open, leaving in this case a small scar barely noticeable at the base of the nose (columella). Depending on your case, one or the other technique will be performed. The surgery usually lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours and at the end of it a plaster or a splint of thermoplastic material and plugs are placed in the nostrils.

During the 3-4 days following nose surgery, the patient should sleep with the head slightly elevated. It is normal the appearance of small bruises around the eyes and swelling of the face during the first days, which resolve over a week. The plugs will be removed in consultation after 48 hours and the splint after 7-10 days. The postoperative period is not usually painful, patients describe it as uncomfortable due to nasal packing.
