Breast augmentation

Breast augmentation or augmentation mammoplasty is a surgical procedure to enhance the size and shape of the breasts. During the interview, we will evaluate the most appropriate method for breast implant placement. The prosthesis is placed behind the mammary gland, behind the pectoral muscle or subfascial level, depending on each patient.

The breast implant may be saline or a high cohesive silicone gel. The incision is usually small, it can be made around the areola, in the inframammary fold or armpit level.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 40-50 minutes. Usually, we do not use drains. The next day the patient goes home with a tight sports bra and a breast elastic band. The patient should rest and avoid any kind of effort for at least 48-72 hours. During the first postoperative visit, it will be ensured that everything runs normally and change the bandages covering the scars. On the second visit, after 10 days, the intradermal suture will be removed.

Typically, patients are return to their normal life after 5 days, but should not physically exercise during the first month after surgery. The most common complication of breast augmentation is capsular contracture which is typically 8-10%. The causes are unknown, it is therefore important to have postoperative visits to detect and treat in the event that it occurs.

Other rare complications that can occur are infection, intolerance of stitches, local bruising, etc., which would be detected and treated properly in the postoperative visits. There is no evidence that breast implants affect women during pregnancy, lactation or cause cancer.

Reduction mammoplasty

Women with large and/or fallen breasts often experience back and neck pain, skin irritation in the grooves by a maceration of the skin folds and sore shoulders from bra straps. Added to all this is the fact that these patients do not see themselves as attractive and proportionate with the rest of their body.

Reduction mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to reduce excess breasts and lift breasts that fall due to their weight. The benefits of this surgical procedure are undeniable as the patient notices in a short time that clothes fit better, and back pain is minimized or even disappears. During the first visit we will explain the different methods of breast reduction and mitigate expectations. It is important to inform us if you are a smoker or if you plan to breastfeed in subsequent pregnancies.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 2-2.5 hours. Usually drains are removed after 24 hours. The next day the patient goes home with a special bra set; and should rest and avoid any kind of effort for at least 48-72 hours. During the first postoperative visit, it will be ensured that everything runs normally and the bandages covering the scars will be changed. On the second visit, at 10 days, intradermal sutures are removed.

In some cases there is a fluctuation in nipple sensation, this is usually temporary. The scars are permanent but if you follow the advice of your plastic surgeon regarding pre-and postoperative care, with the passage of time they will be much less visible. If due to a problem in scarring, scars became wide and bulky, it would take a correction under local anesthesia after 6 months.

Breast lift

Various factors such as pregnancy, lactation, gravity and the passing of time, cause the skin to lose its elasticity and the breasts tend to sag (breast ptosis). Mastopexy is a surgical technique which aims to reshape and lift the breast. When detecting a small volume loss a prosthesis can be placed.

During the first visit we will explain the various techniques, evaluate the tone of your skin and the size and shape of your breast to advise the most suitable for you. It is important to inform us if you are a smoker, take any medication, if you plan to have more pregnancies or lactation.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 2-2.5 hours. Usually drains are removed after 24 hours. The next day the patient goes home with a special bra set; and should rest and avoid any kind of effort for at least 48-72 hours.

The effects of mastopexy are not eternal, and factors such as new pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes and chronological aging can accelerate the fall of the breast.

Tuberous breasts

This deformity is characterized by conical breasts with large, protruding and submammary rising areolas, due to an underdevelopment of the lower pole of the breast.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 1.5-2hrs. We place the breast implant and proceed to the reduction and ideal placement of the areola. Usually, we do not use drains. The next day the patient goes home with a sports bra breast tight and elastic band; and should rest and avoid any kind of effort for at least 48-72 hours.

During the first postoperative visit, it will be ensured that everything runs normally and the bandages covering the scars will be changed. On the second visit, at 10 days, intradermal sutures are removed.

Typically, patients return to their normal life after 5-7 days , but should not physically exercise during the first month after surgery.
