Some uses of PRP that you may not have known about

Uses of PRP that you may not have known.

There are many uses for PRP and in this article I review some that you may not have known about.

But let’s start with the basics:

What does Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) contain?

In addition to platelet-derived growth factors, keratinocyte growth factors, fibroblast growth factors, etc., platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains other molecules with a very important role in tissue healing. These molecules promote tissue regeneration and the formation of new blood vessels.

By the way, did you know that Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has been used in regenerative medicine since the 1980s?

Uses of PRP against skin aging

Skin aging produces the following signs:

  • Decreased vascularization of the skin.
  • Decreased cell turnover or regeneration.
  • Decreased hydration due to a decrease in the amount of hyaluronic acid in the intercellular matrix or the “sea” in which the cells bathe.
  • Fat atrophy.
  • Loss of muscle tone.

In vitro studies have demonstrated the regenerative action of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) as it stimulates fibroblast proliferation, the formation of new blood vessels and the remodeling of the matrix in which the cells are bathed through procollagen and hyaluronic acid.

We are currently associating the use of PRP with resurfacing techniques such as chemical peels to accelerate the skin regeneration process.

Uses of PRP against alopecia

Recently, both in vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated the role of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in promoting both hair survival and hair growth, because it accelerates the transition from the telogem phase to the anagem phase, in addition to the anti-inflammatory effect and the formation of new blood vessels.

If you want to know more about the uses of PRP and its benefits, I invite you to read this other article of my website about Platelet Rich Plasma.
